Darned good read!

Whether you're looking at this book as a historical narrative or just a good action novel, you will love this book! The detail (and the author swears that it is all true - well, of course there was some liberty taken with conversations - and the action draw you into a world not long ago and right here. You learn a lot about the settling of the Ohio/Kentucky/Tennessee area (hard to think of it as the Wild West, but it was, back then) and the characters who were larger than life because they had to be for the times.
It is truly a fascinating tale and you won't regret reading it. I look forward to the rest of Eckert's books.

Early America - Bloody massacres

The book is well written, but there's no plot or drive as to where the story is going. The many horrific battles between the white man and Native Americans are very descriptive and repetitious 300 pages (half-way), back & forth, and on & on with atrocity and massacres. No sympathy for Natives as white men built cabins on their native soil.
