They came for her in the dead of night, while the camp was silent but for the rustle of palm leaves on the cool night air and the snort of camels dreaming of desert caravans long since travelled. She was not afraid when she heard the zip of the blade through the wall of the tent. She was not even afraid when a man dressed all in black, his face covered by a mask tied behind his head and with only slits for his eyes, stepped inside, even though his height and the width of his shoulders were enough to steal her breath away and cause her pulse to trip.

Instead it was relief that flooded her veins and brought her close to tears, relief that the rescue she had prayed and hoped so desperately for had finally arrived.

'I knew you would come for me,' she whispered as she slid fully dressed out of bed to meet him, almost tripping over her slippers in her rush to get away. She swallowed back a sob, knowing what she was escaping, knowing how close she had come. But at last she would be safe. There was no need to be afraid.

But when the hand clamped hard over her mouth to silence her, and she felt herself pulled roughly against his hard, muscular body, there was no denying her sudden jag of fear.

'Do not utter another word, Princess,' the man hissed into her ear as he dipped his head to hers. 'Or it may be your last.'

She stiffened even as she accepted the indignity, for she had been raised to accept no stranger's touch. But she had little choice now, with his arm like a steel band around her waist, the fingers of one large hand splayed from her chest to her belly and the palm of his other hand plastered hard across her mouth so that she could all but taste his heated flesh.

Unnecessarily close.

Unnecessarily possessive.

Every breath she took contained his scent, a blend of horseflesh and leather, of shifting sands and desert air, all laced with a warm, musky scent that wormed its way into all the places he touched her and beyond. Those places burned with heat until unnecessarily possessive became unnecessarily intimate, and some innate sense of survival pounded out a message in her heartbeat, warning her that perhaps she was not as safe as she had supposed.

Something inside her rebelled. Foolish man! He might be here to rescue her but hadn't she been ready and waiting? Did he imagine she had prayed for rescue only to scream or run and risk her chances of escape?

She was sick of being manhandled and treated like a prize, first by Mustafa's goons and now by her own father's. She was a princess of Jemeya, after all. How dared this man handle her like some common sack of melons he might have picked up at the market?

He shifted and she squirmed, hoping to take advantage of his sudden stillness while his focus seemed elsewhere, but there was no escape. The iron band simply pulled her tighter against the hard wall of his body, his fingers tightening on her flesh, punching the air from her lungs. She gasped, her lips parting, and felt one long finger intrude between her lips.

Shock turned to panic as she tasted his flesh in her mouth.

She felt invaded. She felt violated with the intimacy of the act.

So she did the only possible thing she could. She bit down. Hard.

He jumped and spat out a curse under his breath, but, while he shifted his fingers away from the danger of her teeth, he did not let her go. 'Be still!' he hissed, holding her tighter, even closer to his rigid form, so that she was convinced he must be made of rock. Warm, solid rock but with a drum beating at its core. Once more she was reminded that this man was not just some nameless rescuer, not just a warrior sent by her father, but a man of flesh and blood, a beating heart and a hot hand that touched her in places no man's hand had a right to be. A hand that stirred a strange pooling heat deep in her belly…

She was glad she had bitten him. She hoped it hurt like hell. She would gladly tell him that too, if only he would take his damned hand off her mouth.

And then she heard it—a short grunt from outside the tent—and she froze as the curtains twitched open.

Ahmed, she realised as the unconscious guard was flopped to the carpet by a second bandit clad similarly in black. Ahmed, who had leered hungrily at her every time he had brought in her meals, laughing at her when she had insisted on being returned to her father, telling her with unrestrained glee exactly what Mustafa planned on doing with his intended bride the moment they were married.

The bandit's eyes barely lingered on her before he nodded to the man at her back. 'Clear for now, but go quickly. There are more.'

'And Kadar?'

'Preparing one of his "surprises".'

All at once she was moving, propelled by her nameless rescuer towards the slash in the tent wall, her slippered feet barely grazing the carpeted floor. He hesitated there just a fraction, testing the air, listening intently, before he set her down, finally loosening his grip but not nearly enough to excise the blistering memory of his large hand spreading wide over her belly.

'Can you run as hard as you bite?' he asked quietly, his voice husky and low as he wrapped his large hand around hers, scanning the area one last time before he looked down at her.

The glinting light in his eyes made her angrier than ever. Now he was laughing at her? She threw him an icy look designed to extinguish any trace of amusement. 'I bite harder.'

Even in the dark she thought she sensed the scarf over his mouth twitch before a cry rang out across the camp behind them.

'Let's hope you're wrong,' he muttered darkly, tugging her roughly into a run beside him, his hand squeezing hers with a grip of steel, the second man guarding their rear as together they scaled the low dune, shouts of panic and accusation now building behind them.

Adrenaline fuelled her lungs and legs—adrenaline and the tantalising thought that as soon as they were safe she was going to set her father's arrogant mercenary right about how to treat a princess.

From the camp behind came an order to stop, followed by the crack of rifle fire and a whistle as the bullet zinged somewhere over their heads, and she soon forgot about being angry with her rescuer. They would not shoot her, she reasoned. They would not dare harm a princess of Jemeya and risk sparking an international incident. But it was dark and her captors were panicking and she had no intention of testing her theory.

Neither had she any intention of complying with the command to stop, even if the man by her side had any hint of letting her go. No way would she let herself be recaptured, not when Mustafa's ugly threats still made her shudder with revulsion. Marry a slug like Mustafa? No way. This was the twenty-first century. She wasn't going to be forced into marrying anybody.

So she clung harder to her rescuer's hand and forced her feet to move faster across the sand, her satin slippers cracking through the dune's fragile crust until, heavy and dragging with sand, her foot slipped from one and she hesitated momentarily when he jerked her forwards.

'Leave it,' he snapped, urging her on as another order to stop and another shot rang out, and she let the other slipper be taken by the dune too, finding it easier to keep up with him barefoot as they forged across the sand. Her lungs and muscles burned by the time they had scaled the dune and plunged over the other side, her mouth as dry as the ground beneath her bare feet. As much as she wanted to flee, as much as she had to keep going or Mustafa's men would surely hunt her down, she knew she could not keep going like this for long.

Over the sound of her own ragged breath she heard it—a whistle piercing the sky, and then another, until the night sky became a screaming promise that ended with a series of explosions bursting colour and light into the dark night. The cries from behind them became more frantic and panicked and all around was the acrid smell of gunpowder.

'What did you do to them?' she demanded, feeling suddenly sickened as the air above the camp glowed now with the flicker of flame from burning tents. Escape was one thing, but leaving a trail of bloodied and injured—maybe even worse—was another.

He shrugged as if it didn't matter, and she wanted to pull her hand free and strike him for being so callous.

'You did want to be rescued, Princess?' Then he turned, and in the glow from the fires she could make out the dark shape of someone waiting for them, could hear the low nicker of the horses he held. Four horses, one for each of them, she noted, momentarily regretting the loss of her shoes until she realised all she would be gaining. She didn't care if her feet froze in the chill night air or rubbed raw on the stirrups. It was a small price to pay for some welcome space from this man. How she could do with some space from him.

'Surely,' she said, as they strode towards the waiting horses, 'you didn't have to go that far?'

'You don't think you're worth it?' Once again she got the distinct impression he was laughing at her. She looked away in sheer frustration, trying to focus on the positives. Her father had sent rescuers. Soon she would see him again. And soon she would be in her own home, where people took her seriously, and where men didn't come with glinting eyes, hidden smiles and hands that set off electric shocks under her skin.

She could hardly wait.

She was already reaching for the reins of the closest horse when his hand stopped her wrist. 'No, Princess.' 'No? Then which one's mine?'

'You ride with me.' 'But there are four.' 'And there are five of us.'

'But…' And then she saw them, two more men in black running low across the dunes towards them when she had been expecting only one.

'Kadar,' he said, slapping one of the men on the back as they neared, making her wonder how he could tell which one was...

A spoiled princess, and a handsome barbarian! Loads of drama and heat!
By Amazon Customer
Review originally featured on the Bookluvrs Haven blog.

I know this read is a little out of genre norm of YA and zombie fiction that has been the ongoing theme lately on the blog, but I really needed a little quick, escape read. One that is filled with action, conflict and a whole lot of romance. This Harlequin novel had all I was looking for.

I've read plenty of Harlequins over the years, and usually I really enjoy the stories. They usually follow the same formula; boy meets girl, sometimes they don't really like each other at first, but there is always a spark between them. Fairly quickly, boy and girl fall hopelessly in love, but may or may not be open with how intense their emotions are. Hot sex is involved. Yum. Then, behold! A conflict arises that separates the lovers... but their love for each other is so strong, they can't stay away from each other. And they live happily ever after, and unicorns shit strawberry scented rainbows. I love it! I love those happy endings, and ending scenes filled with love erupting from their pores.

It's a guaranteed cry for me at the end. Yes... I know... such a sap.

I know that this novel centered in modern times, but it didn't feel modern. I had to keep reminding myself of the actual time in this novel. The Arab customs of this story, with royalty being involved, and arranged marriages felt like it belonged in an older time. But I understand those customs are still very much alive today, so it's not from ignorance on my part. Being from a different culture those types of customs are not common or expected, is what made me constantly remind myself that this was a present time novel. I enjoyed that it was centered around a different culture and it was a much more interesting story to read for me because of it. Even though the core story has been done a hundred, thousand times, this was a cool setting.

The female character, Princess Aisha, was constantly accused of being a selfish brat. But the writer did not portray her that way. As a reader, you have the luxury of reading from her perspective and from his. What made her bratty, was evidently her way of trying to gain what she felt was a semblance of control when she really had none. The life changing choices were made by her father, and it was on her shoulders to uphold custom and make her family and nation proud. On the other hand, Zoltan was also accused of being a 'barbarian', and yes he was cold at times, and impossible, but this was also an unwelcome situation for him, but he too had a part to play out of duty. He definitely needed some help in the romance department, and I am glad that he got that much needed advice from one of his closest friends. Both Zoltan and Aisha got along a lot better when he followed his friend's advice... much to the pleasure of both, and swooning me, who devoured this novel waiting for that happy ending that I knew was coming.

Well written and interesting, this novel was just the break I needed from all the darker books I have been reading lately. I was starting to feel like I was in a rut reading the same high action, gory stuff. 'Duty and the Beast' gave me a little battery charge with the nice feeling that accompanies finishing a great romance with that expected heart warming ending.

*I received a eBook copy of this book for free to review from the publisher via Netgalley; this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own.*

A BARBARIAN AND A PRINCESS
By Reader
Princess Aisha Peshwah is kidnapped. She expects her Father the king of Jemeya to send rescuers. In the middle of the night they arrived, four of them they whisked her away. Their leader rode with her on his horse, and although it was dark and she could not see him clearly she knew he was a big man tall and muscular. Aisha assumed they would return her to her Father, but she fell asleep on the journey and when she awoke she was in a strange bedroom. She was eventually taken to see Zoltan Al Farouk bin Shamal, who informed her she would not be returning home, as in less than forty eight hours they were to be married. Aisha is outraged at this suggestion and informs Zoltan that her Father would never give his consent. But she was in for a shock, when she spoke with him by phone, he insisted that she must do her duty. It appeared that the King of Al-Jirad and his family had all perished in a plane crash, and Zoltan as the nearest relative is to be crowned King but a pact between her country and Zoltan's demanded he marry her, without the marriage he could not be crowned King. Alisha is further shocked that it was Zoltan himself along with three of his friends who rescued her.

This is a really romantic story filled with passion and adventure. I loved the H/h they were brilliantly drawn by the author. Aisha is a princess, but what I liked best were her honest and realistic reactions to Zoltan and their situation, she might be a virgin, but she certainly was a simpering one. She gave as good as she got, it was such a refreshing change to have a heroine with not only a bit of backbone, but common sense as well. I loved that she didn't let Zoltan get away with anything. Zoltan hated the fact that he and Aisha had to marry as much as she did. It's just that he didn't handle it as well as he should have. He thinks her spoilt and haughty.
The story was good, alright it was a bit fairytale-ish but the realistic characterisation brought it to life and gave it substance. Loved it highly recomend.

Forced Marriage
By Rhonda
4 STARS

I was not sure if I would like this book by reading the back but I did like it.
Thier was one love scene that I skipped over.
I like Aisha and would be mad if my choice was taken from me too. At first Zoltan Al Farouk bin Shamal is not to my likeing he is Arogant ,proud and he is right and he is being forced into things too.
But the more I saw and heard where he was coming from and how he grew with the knowledge that he had I fell a little in love with him too.
Mustafa is a character that I do not like at all.
Zoltan good friends I hope thier stories get told soon. because I want to read them.
Aisha is a virgin and was saving herself for the future husband she wanted to marry for love. When she is kidnapped my Mustafa and told that she would have to marry him.
Then she was rescued and thought on her way home but instead was going to be married to Zoltan right away. If she refused to marry him than he can't be King of his country but also her father would not be King or her brothers would not be King in the future of her own kingdom.
Aisha has the power to dethrown two kingdoms and she can not do it. She feels powerless and alone.
Zoltan's friend opens his eyes to what it must be like for Aisha to be forced to marry a stranger. Zoltan does not beleve that Aisha is a virgin he just thinks she is a spoiled princess.
This is a fast read that I did enjoy and look forward to more books from Trish.
I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley.

About the Author

Stefan Sjogelid

Stefan Sjogelid grew up in the 1980s in Sweden, getting hooked on 8-bit consoles, Amigas, and BBSes. With a background in system and network administration, he packed his bags for Southeast Asia and continued to work in IT for many years, before love and a magic 8 ball told him to seek new opportunities in the North American continent. The Raspberry Pi is the latest gadget to grab Stefan's attention, and after much tinkering and learning a great deal about the unique properties of the Pi, he launched the PiLFS website (http://www.intestinate.com/pilfs), which teaches readers how to build their own GNU/Linux distribution and applications that are particularly useful on Raspberry Pi.

Excellent - worthy of six stars
By Amazon Customer
Let me state for the record that I am not a secret agent and have no affiliation with any security service, so I'm unable to assess this book in terms of its application in the world of espionage and covert operations - but, as a maker, hacker, nerd, techie, experimenter, perfectly normal guy who likes playing with electronics (description varies depending upon who you talk to) I can happily say that this is a very, very good and useful book if you want to do interesting things with Raspberry Pi.

From the basic setting-up of the Pi it moves to audio and covers, more or less everything you're likely to want. Then on to video, adding the Pi Camera, recording video, playing video, motion detection, multiple cameras, video on the Internet, automated operation – it's all there.

Got WiFi and want to dig around in it, control access to it, do more with it and don't want to get bogged down in really deep technical stuff? Yep, that's included too and goes as far as encrypted messaging – in the most understandable application I've ever seen.

This book even covers the things that everyone else seems to take for granted – enclosures and battery power for a self-contained Pi (what good is a secret agent in search of a power outlet?).

On a technical level this book is excellent and it's very, very readable – well worth buying and enjoying. (but you didn't hear that from me – OK?)

Painted Hands: A Novel, by Jennifer Zobair

Muslim bad girl Zainab Mir has just landed a job working for a post-feminist, Republican Senate candidate. Her best friend Amra Abbas is about to make partner at a top Boston law firm. Together they've thwarted proposal-slinging aunties, cultural expectations, and the occasional bigot to succeed in their careers. What they didn't count on? Unlikely men and geopolitical firestorms.

When a handsome childhood friend reappears, Amra makes choices that Zainab considers so 1950s—choices that involve the perfect Banarasi silk dress and a four-bedroom house in the suburbs. After hiding her long work hours during their courtship, Amra struggles to balance her demanding job and her unexpectedly traditional new husband.

Zainab has her own problems. She generates controversy in the Muslim community with a suggestive magazine spread and friendship with a gay reporter. Her rising profile also inflames neocons like Chase Holland, the talk radio host who attacks her religion publicly but privately falls for her hard. When the political fallout from a terrorist attempt jeopardizes Zainab's job and protests surrounding a woman-led Muslim prayer service lead to violence, Amra and Zainab must decide what they're willing to risk for their principles, their friendship, and love.

Jennifer Zobair's Painted Hands is The Namesake meets Sex and the City, an engaging and provocative debut novel about friendship and the love lives of American Muslim women.

Review

“A debut with an original and refreshing premise–Jennifer Zobair’s novel is about high-flying Bostonian women who struggle with their demanding careers, relationships, friendships and families, and who also happen to be Muslim. A positive portrait of modern Muslim women, prominent in their professions and at large within their communities, written with affection and detail.”—Roopa Farooki, Orange Prize finalist and author of The Flying Man

“In Painted Hands, Jennifer Zobair lifts the veil on three American Muslim women, taking readers into a world that will challenge their assumptions. Her debut novel is an important addition to the canon of ethnic fiction, showcasing the difficulty of being both American and Muslim.”—Anne Cherian, author of The Invitation and A Good Indian Wife

“An enlightening first novel, Jennifer Zobair’s Painted Hands dismantles the myths and stereotypes about what it means to be Muslim in American society today. Through interwoven stories of career-oriented women of Pakistani and Indian descent, navigating the tightrope of politics, personal ambition, and family expectations in modern Boston, Painted Hands ultimately celebrates the redemptive, transcendent power of love and friendship.”—Anjali Banerjee, author of Enchanting Lily

THEY HAD TALKED about marrying a white man, but Amra never thought they were serious, not even when fed up with the proposal-slinging aunties who showed up at weddings and holiday celebrations with wallet-sized photos of eligible doctors and engineers, their particulars scribbled on the back (5'11", MIT, owns home or Stanford Medical, 33, professional wife okay). It was simply a way to vent. Because sometimes she and her friends needed to say something after the Ramadan parties and family celebrations, where the men always ate first and never helped clean up. It was just a bluff, the threat to marry outside of their culture, or so Amra thought until the Friday after Valentine’s Day, when Rukan rushed into Khao Sarn twenty minutes late—Amra and Zainab had already finished their miang kum and were attacking the fried tofu—and, without taking off her coat, flashed an enormous diamond ring.
Amra didn’t know what to say. All she could think of was the Home Shopping Network and a laboratory. Which, unfortunately, opened the floor for Zainab.
“What the hell is that?”
“Nice, Zainab,” Amra said. “What would her father say if he could hear you?” Rukan’s father did not tolerate women who swore. When they befriended her that first earnest year at Smith, despite Zainab’s prodding, Rukan couldn’t even say “crap” until the second semester.
Zainab nodded, like she was glad Amra had asked. “I think he would say, ‘What is that ring doing on my daughter’s finger and it better not have come from that goddamned kafir.”
“Adam isn’t a kafir,” Rukan said. “He’s an Episcopalian.”
Zainab rolled her eyes.
“It counts,” Rukan insisted. “You know, People of the Book? Christians and Jews. And Sabians.” Rukan frowned. “What even is a Sabian?” Amra shrugged. Zainab shot Rukan a look suggesting it couldn’t possibly matter, at that moment, what a Sabian was.
“Rook, even if it counts,” Zainab said, “it doesn’t help you. In your father’s world, Muslim men can marry Christians and Jews. Not Muslim women.”
“Some scholars say that women can, too.”
“Name one.”
Rukan sighed and turned to Amra. “How bad do you think it will be?”
“With your parents?” Rukan nodded. Amra searched for the right words. “I think they’ll be caught off guard.”
Zainab laughed. “Really, Amra? You think?”
Rukan slumped in her chair. “Well, they’ll just have to deal with it. I’m getting married.”
“To Adam,” Amra said.
“Yes, to Adam. Should I agree to some arranged marriage instead? To some guy who’s only after my father’s money?”
“Of course not.” It was a false dilemma, Amra knew, the idea that those were Rukan’s only choices. “It’s just so… sudden.”
“Please. You go to weddings all the time where the bride and groom have spent all of three hours together.” Rukan took off her coat, finally, and pushed it over the back of her chair. She seemed to notice the food for the first time and spooned some Chinese broccoli onto her plate. “It’s been almost three months,” she said. “That’s practically a lifetime in our community.”
Amra didn’t disagree. But Adam was not from their community. “I’m sorry,” Amra said. “You’re right. Three months is more than enough time to fall in love.” Rukan nodded and took a sip of her water, staring at the wall on the other side of the restaurant.
“So,” Zainab said, “when do we get to meet the kafir?”
***
Amra didn’t check her voice mail until she was back in her office. Her mother had called twice and sent one text during lunch: Salaam, Beti. Where are you? Please call, ASAP. Amra had discreetly texted back, asking if it was an emergency, while Rukan talked about reception venues and tiered cakes. It is not emergent, her mother replied, but urgent.
She smiled at her mother’s precise response. Growing up with her mother, an English professor at NYU, meant not being allowed to say “snuck” instead of “sneaked” or “ironic” to refer to a coincidence. It did, however, mean scoring a perfect 800 on the verbal SAT.
Amra closed her office door and dialed. Her mother picked up on the first ring, and Amra could picture her in her study, her hair pulled into a loose bun, her black reading glasses perched on the end of her nose, making comments in careful, slanted script on her students’ papers. The entire wall behind her mother’s desk was covered with a sea of books arranged by subject—gender studies, politics, linguistics. On the antique end table near the door, she displayed a signed first-edition copy of Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own in the original cinnamon cloth. The wood floor of her mother’s office was covered with a maroon Tabriz rug, on which Amra played as a child while her mother graded papers and prepared her lecture notes. It was where she learned that women’s work mattered, that a mother was also someone who did interesting and important things outside of the home. Amra grew up wanting to be just like her and had tried to forge a similar space in the spare bedroom of her Back Bay condo. Somehow, it fell short.
“Beti,” her mother said, “what are you doing the weekend of March tenth?”
Amra didn’t need to check. “Working.”
“I knew you were going to say that. I have a better idea. Why don’t you come home for a couple of days? Let me pamper you. All those long hours. You need a break.”
“I can’t. I have two deals closing that week and Eric is going on vacation.”
“Eric,” her mother scoffed. “The man who cannot bother to learn your name after four years?” It was true. Eric still mispronounced her name, rhyming the first syllable with “Sam” instead of “sum,” giving it an odd, southern twang even though Eric was from Scarsdale. “It’s pronounced Umruh,” she’d tried to explain during those first grueling weeks and then given up.
“If that man can go away for seven days,” her mother continued, “surely my overworked daughter can take one weekend off.” Amra looked at her desk—the neat piles of manila folders, the stacks of merger and acquisition documents, the pink message slips her secretary placed in the tray as Amra had instructed (urgent ones on the left and in descending order of importance)—and wished it worked that way. Amra wasn’t up for partner for two years, and until then she was yoked to Eric’s slightest whim. But Amra knew such explanations would only upset her mother further.
“Maybe I’ll come over the Easter holiday,” she said. “Things should settle down by then.”
“Easter? Amra, I need you here on the tenth.” Her mother’s tone became less conversational and more infused with purpose.
“Why?”
“The Syeds will be in town.”
“Which Syeds?” Amra knew about fifty Syeds.
“Don’t you remember? From our first apartment on Ninety-first Street. Dr. Syed and his family. You used to play with their daughter, Maha.”
Amra remembered. Who could forget Maha with her little notepads, watching the other children, scribbling furtive notes. Once at a wedding, Zainab grabbed Maha’s yellow tablet, stood on a chair, and read its contents. It turned out to be a list of various children’s names and a chronicle of their indiscretions. Maha had cited one boy for staring at a girl, Zainab for swearing, and Amra for “acting like she is better than everyone on the planet.” “You’re recording our sins?” Zainab had asked incredulously. Maha just shrugged and said the angels were doing it anyway. It was at Maha’s house, years later, that Amra got her first period and the ever-prepared Zainab led her to the bathroom for a crash course in tampon wearing. Maha caught sight of the white tube and told her father that the girls were smoking. Because of Maha, Amra had to endure Dr. Syed banging on the bathroom door while Zainab held it shut long enough for her to get her pants up. Amra had been mortified, but Zainab simply deposited the cardboard applicator in Dr. Syed’s hand as they passed him and said, “I think this is what you’re looking for.” The only good part about Maha was her brother Mateen, with his Shahid Kapoor good looks, but he was several years older than the girls and never paid them any attention.
Amra sighed. “I doubt that Maha cares much about seeing me.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” her mother said. “She worshipped the ground you and Zainab walked on.”
“She had a funny way of showing it.”
“Yes, well, children can be funny. Shall I make your shuttle reservation or will your secretary take care of it?”

I read it to get another view of life from another culture and it was good in that sense

I ordered this book on my Kindle and I wish there had been a page explaining all the ethnic terms used in the book. I read it to get another view of life from another culture and it was good in that sense. I found myself really interested in what happened to the characters in the book and anxious to see how everything turned out.

Wonderful first novel
By S. B. Mowrer
This book about American Muslim young women and their friends and how they live and work in modern society is well-written and thought provoking. It shows how complex our society is and how we all need to work together.
