Great read

This book hooked me right from the start. It was a great read. The story pulled me in and kept me going to find out how the conflicts would be resolved. I loved the Colorado and Minnesota connections in the story since I have lived in both states. It brought me home. Would highly recommend this book for an inspirational and romantic story to get lost in.

About the Author

Frank Schmalleger, Ph.D., is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Dr. Schmalleger holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Ohio State University, having earned both a master’s (1970) and doctorate (1974) from Ohio State University, with a special emphasis in criminology. From 1976 to 1994, he taught criminal justice courses at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. For the last 16 of those years, he chaired the university’s Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice. He was named Professor Emeritus in 2001. As an adjunct professor with Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, Schmalleger helped develop the university’s graduate program in security administration and loss prevention. He taught courses in that curriculum for more than a decade. Schmalleger has also taught in the New School for Social Research’s online graduate program, helping to build the world’s first electronic classrooms in support of distance learning through computer telecommunications. An avid Internet user, Schmalleger is also the creator of a number of award-winning websites, including one that supports this textbook ( www.mycjlab.com ).

Frank Schmalleger is the author of numerous articles and many books, including the widely used Criminal Justice Today (Pearson, 2013), Criminology Today (Pearson, 2012), and Criminal Justice: A Brief Introduction (Pearson, 2014). See his website at www.schmalleger.com .

Hall, J.D., Ed.D., a native of Indiana, earned his bachelor’s degree at Indiana University, his Juris Doctor at Washburn University, and his Doctor of Education at the University of Central Florida. He has been on the faculties of the Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida and the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Toledo, where he was chair and associate professor. [SR2]�He is currently professor and director of criminal justice, with a joint appointment in political science and affiliate status in Black World Studies, at Miami University Hamilton.� He is also visiting professor of law at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.� Dr. Hall is the author or coauthor of 20 textbooks and many journal articles on public law subjects.� Daniel lives in Ohio with his two daughters, Eva and Grace. I think the book is written with law students in mind. Just keep in mind criminal justice students are not all going to law school. Some areas in the book could have just been simplier

I had rented this book for a class where I received an A+ in the class! The book did what it was supposed to do plus I barely opened the book cause I knew a lot of what was in the book already. I opened it maybe 4 times out of the 7 week course. Thank you!

Worse written textbook EVER

Worse written textbook EVER!!! Very often confusing and is presented in an illogical order. For instance, the text taught incohate crimes before basic crimes. Then on page 119 - 120 the text gives you a critical thinking exercise. Basically it is a fact pattern which has one person getting arrested for speeding. Seems improbable since speeding is an infraction. The fact pattern asks the student to apply the mere-preparation test, the substantial step test and the overt act test, however the text does not mention one of those tests in the reading. Tsk Tsk Mr. Schmalleger. If you are an instructor and reading this review only use this book as a text if you hate your students.

Not a Great Horror Novel - Neither Plot, Characters, Nor Grammar

Edwina is a disturbing story of a young girl who seems to bring death and destruction to every foster family who takes her in. And while I usually love horror novels, this one is simply too disturbing.

Another reason for a 2 star review is the grammar mistakes throughout. I'm not sure if there is a translation problem or poor editing, but the mistakes took away from the story and the characters.

I'm sorry, but I cannot recommend Edwina to others who want a good horror novel to curl up with on a dark and rainy night.

This book was scary. It was a very good follow up to "Five, Six Grab Your Crucifix" and gave you insight into who Edwina really was before she ended up in "Five, Six". I really love Willow Rose's books, they make me wonder what is next.

I had gotten a boxed set of Willow Rose's for free and while she isn't the best author I have read, her books are good and keep you entertained and have a definite creep you out value. I would recommend this book to my friends who like creep books

Terrific Book on Chakra Healing

This is a book that is well written with the reader foremost in mind. Many books in this genre often make the author the main subject--not so here. The tone throughout this book is one of invitation and restraint. Ms. Hausauer invites you into the world of Chakra healing but she doesn’t overwhelm you with jargon and esoteric detail. She has laid it out in an easy-to-follow format that enables you to first be introduced to the Chakra system as a whole and then to focus on each individual chakra. It is eminently useful as a manual. And it is chock full of good information. Ms Hausauer knows this system well and communicates it clearly. In a way this is a basic primer for beginners. The information is clear and practical. Yet it will be very useful to anyone already familiar with the Chakra system for the same reasons. Ms Hausauer gives the reader many ways to access the energies of the various chakras and to do simple everyday things to balance one’s chakras. She shows how a person can use knowledge of the health of their chakras in their life to enhance their joy in living—on all levels, physical, emotional and intellectual, and spiritual. One caveat: the lists of things one can do to work with each chakra is often daunting, but once you remember it is a list to choose from and not a list of items one should accomplish, it becomes extremely useful. Her approach to Chakra healing does not require you to completely revise your belief systems; it just asks for a recognition that the universe we all live in is composed of energies, including the energy centers in our own bodies. How fortunate we are to have such a clear explanation of the Chakra system and an invitation to participate in self healing presented in this book.

I have used this book extensively in my life for ideas, suggestions, and inspiration when I have needed it. I've worked with energy for many years, and this book is the most wonderful resource for me. However, I think it would be great for beginners as well, since it explains energy and energy healing in an easy to understand way.

The variety of ideas, suggestions and simple affirmations always give me a new way to try to work with whatever is on my mind at the moment. I always find something new to try in this wonderful resource.

You need to buy this book as you will refer to it over and over and discover new things that are relevant each time you open it. The chapters are set up to either read through from start to end or focus in on the areas where you need information and assistance. A true gem.

My Go-To Book

I think this is one of the best dog training books I’ve ever read. The first training was to make your dog approach you. When I did that exercise to my dog, I had a bit difficulty as my dog was stubborn. But after trying a couple of times, it worked! The steps in this book are really easy to follow and effective. The process takes time and days as some of the exercises are needed to be repeated for a few days. When I showed people what tricks my dog can do, they are amazed. Some asked me where I learned these tricks and I always recommended this book.

What I like is that these trainings do not involve hurting the dog emotionally or physically. I like the author’s approach. The training involves praising the dog with treats and with words and also training in a gentle manner. This is my go-to book on how to implement dog training with my dog. I ended up with a really well-behaved dog. This book is really helpful for someone who wants to train their dog.

You're personality affects dogs as well so you have to be affectionate and patient while maintaining discipline. Then tips on how to train the dogs which are actually for beginners since old owners already know how to do it. Taking the dog to walks and other tips this book can offer to new and old owners. Since I love dogs, and I am a dog owner myself, I was surprised after reading this book that there has lots to offer than just being an owner.
