About the Author
Eknath Easwaran (19101999) is respected around the world as an authentic guide to timeless wisdom, and as the originator of passage meditation, an eight-point program of universal spiritual practices that includes slowing down and one-pointed attention. In 1961 he founded the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation, which carries on his work with publications and retreats. Easwaran’s books on spiritual living have been published in 26 languages. Eknath takes you on a journey of a lifetime - his. Reading about his stories and teachings of his life, along with the incredibly insightful ideas from his wife and others that have benefitted from his books and lectures, you will learn how to harness your thoughts and become the person you were meant to be.
How? The key is knowing your mind and body want to work for your spirit and soul. You aren't your mind or your body - you are something more - a consciousness that needs to take control - ask for what it needs and wants from the mind and body.

Perfect for giving to friends

Easwaran's books have literally changed every aspect of my life for the better. I regularly give Easwaran's books to friends and family, and this is the one I always choose for anyone going through a crisis. It's true to its title!
Easwaran gives clear instructions on learning simple spiritual tools, like a mantram, which anyone can do -- no matter how stressed out they are. There are stories from people who have used the tools in difficult times, and helpful questions at the end of each chapter, so you can figure out how to integrate the practice into your life.
I gave this book to a friend facing a serious illness several years ago, and she told me it was what got her through. She used her mantram constantly and still does. She gave the book to her doctor after her surgery, and recommended that he give it to all his patients!
I also like the cover and design - it makes it a pleasure to read and a wonderful gift.
